Biomaterial properties of bio engineered materials such as cell scaffolds must be assessed and controlled. Thus, nondestructive quantification of micro-structural characteristics such as porosity, surface-to-volume ratio, interconnectivity, and anisotropy is necessary for scaffold optimization.
